Ochanomizu university was initially founded in 1875 as "the Tokyo Women's Normal School," the first higher education institution for women in Japan. Its mission is to train the next generation of female leaders who will play an active role in the world. It has a reputation for highly specialized education in small classes and cross-disciplinary research and education. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in the Faculties of Letters and Education, Science, and Human Life and Environmental Science. It will mainly work on the implementation of COIL in collaboration with Vassar College in this project.
